New iPhone launch date rumor round up

At the moment there are so many rumors of when this is happening, with most pointing to sometime in October, so lets have a look at where that information is coming from.  Firstly, we have the news on the 6th of September that the German Deutsche Telekom has started to take pre sales of the phone, however, this is without any specific phone plan or even specs being released, and at this stage no other company has done so. Then there was the “leaked” memo from Best Buy stating that the end of the aisles were needed for the 21st of October for a 6am start. However, on the 9th of September it was “apparently” set up by the management of Best Buy to see if any of their staff would leak the information to the press (seems a bit suspicious!).

On the 7th of September we learn that the training on the iCloud system the iPhone 5 is running on is underway by Apple staff, but the iOS 5 was up to the 7th beta testing phase. There are two thoughts about why this is the case, the first being that Apple are awaiting to have enough stock of the iPhone 5 before they launch it, as there were problems with the iPhone 4 and not being enough stock initially, so therefore they have time to do more testing on the iOS5. The second though was that it is there is a problem with the compatibility of the iCloud and iOS system due to the over 200 features they’ve packed into it, and that it will possibly be entering a 8th beta testing phase. The latest news on the 13th of September has analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of Concord Securities stating a mid October release, which coincides with Sprint Nextel not allowing any staff on holidays for the first two weeks of October.

The other thing to point out is the legal battle between Samsung and Apple, with the Samsung Galaxy Tab being banned permanently in Germany, and Apple pursuing this across other countries. Now Samsung are also stating that Apple have infringed on their patents, and may return fire to get the iPhone banned from sale. Whether this will delay the iPhone 5 release date is an unknown factor at this stage.

Possible iPhone 5 specs

The most common specs rumor is a 8 megapixel camera, with the famous sushi plate photo incident confirming this. Also 512MB of RAM and wireless syncing of all your apps, photos etc. Other information has said about a larger screen, about 4″ across the diameter, increased chip speed to 1.5GHz, A5 core dual processor, and the lack of a SIM card or the ability to put other International SIM cards in it.  Apparently, the new iCloud system alone has over 200 features, and the possibility of your photos, messages etc being hosted in the cloud system, rather than taking up space on the phone.

So, there you have it, we will update with more posts as we get information on the iPhone 5 release date!

iPhone 5 Release Date mid October according to analysts

September 13, 2011  |  Comments Off  |  Share

Is it…isn’t it…..in yet more rumors International Business Times today said that Kuo (who has previously predicted other Apple launches) has said the Iphone 5 will be out in the middle of October. With the iOS5 to be released between the 23rd and 30th of September, which is interesting considering we posted yesterday it was far from ready, with an expected 8th round of beta testing to be done on it. As the Iphone 5 will have the iOS5 already installed it will take about 10-12 days for shipping. The other thing Kuo noted was that the design was not likely to be a lot different to the iPhone 4 and will still have the glass back and front, with the biggest difference being the 8 megapixel camera and 512 MB of RAM. However, the iCloud system is expected to have over 200 features including wireless syncing of photos, apps, music etc plus iMessage and a newstand feature to keep the newspaper and magazine app subscriptions together. Also, Sprint is apparently not allowing staff to have leave for the first 2 weeks of October which does point to something happening soon on the iPhone 5 release date.

What’s riding on the iPhone 5 release date?

September 12, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

Oh about $13 billion USD – that’s quite a ride. This figure is nearly 1/3 of Apples total income. Yes, it’s a mountain of money linked to iPhone products. It’s interesting to note that income from sales of the iPhone 4 are still strong. Come sundown, if you need a phone tomorrow you need one. If there’s no official indication of when the 5 is coming out, beyond sometime in the next month, and you’re an “Appleite” (a term of endearment which will surely make it into the social dictionary next year), you just gotta buy one. If it’s a NIRT (need it right them), what choice do you have?

So what’s the most amazing new feature of the 5? It’s cloak of invisibility! But apparently the cloak will run out of batteries around mid-October, this year being the expected iPhone 5 release date….

Iphone 5 release date delayed again with the new iOS 5 and iCloud system

September 12, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

Well yesterday we were all excited at the news the Iphone 5 release date was near as the developers had started a seventh round of a testing on the iOS 5 system and that this was because they had some time on their hand to fine tune…apparently this is not the case! According to Beatweek magazine there is trouble on the horizon with problems in the new iOS and iCloud system that is so feature packed that Apple is having a tough time getting it all together.  So it appears the information is the other way around, where the phone isn’t ready because of the iOS system not being ready.  What does this all mean? Well, with Apple only ever saying the iOS 5 system was coming by the end of December (the same system that is being used in the iPad 3), and there actually hasn’t been mention of the new Iphone 5 even existing.  Would Apple release the new iPhone with a iOS that is going to need immediate updating to have it working properly?  Could they use the the existing iOS 4 perhaps and try an update? The real question is, how long will the delay be to have a functioning iOS5 system or has Apple bitten off a larger chunk than it can chew?

iPhone 5 release date near as iOS 5 system is beta tested

According to Beatweek Magazine the iOS 5 operating system of the iPhone 5 is undergoing it’s 7th round of beta testing, which for Apple is a record! But this is probably a good thing with the iPhone 5 release date nearing do loyal Apple fans want to see another repeat of the Iphone 4 lack of stock on launch issue? It may mean that they are waiting for stock to build up prior to launch and are just using this time to test and fine tune, both these reasons are a good thing for awaiting customers. Also in this news was that Apple’s initial order of the iPhone 5 was 15 million and that the manufacturers as apparently making 150,000 of the new mobile a day. It is interesting that this new phone is at the moment at least 3 months past the traditional 12 months between phone’s we are used to, so could the delay of the iPhone 5 release date be pointing to other issues….

iPhone 5 release date blog / Sprint race to start sales

September 10, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

“Sources” say the 3rd largest wireless carrier under the star spangled banner, Sprint Nextel Corporation, plans to start selling ahead of the iPhone 5 release date in mid-October, but that it will have an option for an unlimited data service.  It will be interesting to see how much unlimited data costs the user, we all know the devil is in the detail, maybe the devil will be in the data, or maybe not, we’ll have to wait.

So very many people touted as “spokesperson” “spokesman” “spokeswoman” for various companies involved directly or indirectly with the iPhone 5 release date really haven’t been speaking that much at all with the exception of perhaps the phrases, “I’m sorry I am unable to confirm that at this stage”, or “We don’t comment on media reports, speculation or rumours” .  Nice work if you can get it! Perhaps the highly competitive telecommunications industry with their highly desired latest products, will spawn a new breed of employee the “non-spokesperson”.  That way you can quote the real “go to” person you cannot get a comment from and it will be official! Makes sense to me, as long as I don’t think about it for long…

iPhone 5 release date / The smoke and mirrors continue…

September 9, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

iphone 5 release dateA purportedly “leaked” memo from the Best Buy email system which was reported in iPhone 5 release date blog on the 7th of September and regarding the new iPhone launch as being the first week in October is further purported (there’s a lot of purportedness here) to be an agent provocateur!  Yep, its now claimed to have been an intentional set up by management at Best Buy to establish who can be trusted in the firm with information that only a gagged secret squirrel himself could keep quite. As the one in the office with the crew huddling around who first said “No way” when the story first broke today, I got the job or writing it up.  Hmm, perhaps I keep quiet next time to avoid more work…

I managed to convince my colleagues thus: If it was a set-up, why have the truth so close to a lie?; It’s easy to embed code in an email which tracks the emails origin so why is everyone all of a sudden under suspicion? (lol who hasn’t ever done that to a colleague? Oh, okay forget that point). Why wait until a huge secret was being held? And… Just how many untrusted employees can you have if the iPhone 5 release date is such a secret and known to so few?  As “Skipper” of Penguins of Madagascar fame once said, “Smoke and mirrors boys… Smoke and Mirrors”.

iPhone 5 release date looms as iPhone 4 deliveries slow

September 9, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

Another sign of the impending iPhone 5 release date comes from AppleInsider who has found that the iPhone 4 is now taking 1 to 3 days to be delivered from Apple. They believe it’s an indication that stocks are getting low, as previously this model was shipped within 24 hours, but this appears to be only in the US. Other countries such as France and the United Kingdom are still shipped within one day of ordering, which is interesting considering the iPhone 4 was released first last year in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Japan and Germany before other countries, with just over 1.7 million of the mobile device sold within the first 3 days. The precedent set by Apple is that the new mobile phone is usually released in June/July, so it’s unusual that the iPhone 5 release date has been slated for October.

iPhone 5 release date nears as overseas suppliers accelerate production

September 9, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share
iPhone 5 release date
Photo: Apple Iphone 4

iPhone 5 release date blog has received reports that overseas suppliers have accelerated production of components very “recently”.  Some components are being produced in Northern Taiwan by OEM Foxconn Electronics – based in Tucheng City.  OEM is a TLA (oops a Three Letter Acronym) meaning; Original Equipment Manufacturer: – they make parts under contract for the iPhone 5. Apparently current production levels at Foxconn reach in the order of 150,000 a day!

A number of other OEM companies such as G-Tech Optoelectronics, Largan Precision, Dynapack, Simplo and TPK holdings are also full steam ahead.  These companies make reinforced glass; Lenses; batteries; more batteries and touch panels respectively. ODM (now we’re just playing with you… J), Pegatron Technology is an Original Design Manufacturer for the iPhone 5. Pegatron is the second ODM for Apple and… also reported to be involved in production of the iPad 3.

So it seems, if the announcement of the iPhone 5 release date is delayed for whatever reason, there sure is going to be enough of them to go around!

iPhone 5 release date revealed in a plate of sushi?

There is a photo of a plate of sushi doing the rounds at the moment that was apparently taken by an iPhone 5 of an Apple employee’s lunch at work. Whilst we saw this yesterday, we didn’t post it up because the original information said it was an iPhone 4 photo, and therefore not relevant to the iPhone 5 release date. However, Pocketnow has some interesting facts about this photo from the EXIF data of the photo, which indicates it indeed maybe an iPhone 5 photo and it goes a bit like this. The image has been cropped to about 5.10 megapixels, but the original photo was quite a bit larger measured at 3264 x 2448 just under 8 megapixels. Interestingly, the lens was apparently found to be a 4.3mm f/2.4 whereas the iPhone 4′s lens is a 3.85mmf/2.8, and therefore couldn’t have been taken by that model, and the photo was taken on the 22nd of July, 2011 . Although the data seems to speak for itself, only time will tell if it is indeed correct about the 8 megapixel camera when we get the iPhone 5 release date information.

iPhone 5 release date iCloud training for Apple employees has begun

September 7, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

Well the iPhone 5 release date is back on track again with 9to5mac.com announcing that it appears Apple Store employees are undergoing training on the iOS5 and iCloud system that the iPhone 5 is supposedly running on. Usually the staff go through this type of training a few weeks prior to the launch of a product, so this could be good news! Traditionally when the latest iOS system comes out, it is usually done in conjunction with the iPhone, but as we know it’s all still conjecture. With the launch of the iPhone 4 the iOS4 was launched only 3 days prior to the phone! However, as usual Apple haven’t announced any sort of event for the launch of the new phone, nor have they even confirmed there will be a new phone let alone the iPhone 5 release date. But, nevertheless the endless sources including analysts and media are declaring the phone as actually real, and as we know Deutsche Telekom has let people make pre-orders, so this would be unlikely if there wasn’t an physical product to become available.

iPhone 5 release date could be delayed by Samsung

September 7, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share
iPhone 5 release date

Photo: Apple - Iphone 4

Well this one could put a dent in the iPhone 5 release date, with Samsung and Google stating that Apple is violating patents in some of their mobile products, which includes the iPhone and iPad, according to Smarthouse. This has come about from off the back of the Samsung tablets being held for sale until the 26th of September after a Federal Court case in Sydney, Australia recently where Apple successfully was able to get an injunction on their sales. There is another hearing on the 16th and 26th of September, and depending the outcome, until the patent suit is resolved this could mean that both the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and 7.7, and even possibly the Samsung Galaxy S2 could be banned along with the iPhone 5!  Because of Apple’s decision to get Samsung’s mobile products removed from stores, this is likely to cause Google (which now incorporates Motorola) and Samsung to return fire and ban their products.  This is going to be a wait and see game now with the iPhone 5 release date now more unsure than ever.

iPhone 5 Release Date Specs Rumor Round Up

September 7, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

We know that you aren’t just waiting on the iPhone 5 release date, you also want to know what exciting new features it’s likely to have so here’s a bit of an iPhone 5 specs rumor roundup and possible features -

  1. Larger screen (as we mentioned in the previous post) maybe up to 4″ (10cm) across the diagonal.
  2. 8 megapixel camera with duel LED flash
  3. GSM and CDMA compatible making it a “world phone” and that there maybe a SIM card slot that will take other country cards, which means when you are traveling you can insert a different SIM card directly into the phone.
  4. Increase in chip speed to possibly 1.5GHz and 1GB of RAM.
  5. The addition of a iCloud which means things like photos, calendars, documents and apps etc would be stored in the cloud software instead of taking up space in the memory of the phone.
  6. A5 dual core processor, just like what’s in the Ipad 2.
  7. The screen maybe curved glass (let’s hope it doesn’t break as easily!)
  8. Installation of a near field communications (NFC) chip. This one is a bit hard to say, NFC technology is what is going to replace the QR code, where you will just be able to wave the phone near a poster etc and the data will transfer to the iPhone 5. This technology is only brand new, and will be implemented for things like small purchases etc, by using  your phone, but it hasn’t been taken up by consumers so that might be an iPhone 6 feature!

There you have it! As we get more juicy features rumors we will post them up prior to the iPhone 5 release date which is nearing closer every day!

iPhone 5 release date / leaked memo of launch date!

September 7, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

iPhone 5 release date – has seen a screen capture in the form of a memo purporting to have originated from the Best-Buy email network. Whilst the header of the email is missing from the screen capture (hmmm), it stipulates the installation of an Apple display in aisle end positions.

Now whilst this might not sound exciting in itself if you’re not into merchandising, let us give you some background.  “Ends” are where for sale items are placed in a supermarket or store, they are the displays / stacks that make the fixed aisles longer and are one of THE prime pieces of sales real estate in any store. Retail outlets actually charge a premium if you want to advertise your product on an “end”.

And when are said displays due to be constructed?  Friday, 21st October 2011. However the time that this is going to happen is 0600hrs, yep you got it 6am! – Stay tuned…could this be the iPhone 5 release date??

The secret of the iPhone 5 release date / news just in!

September 6, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

Well there’s one thing to be absolutely sure of… Apple is taking the nuclear approach to the question of the iPhone 5 release date, in that they will neither confirm nor deny the truth of the matter!  Why would they really? Let the conjecture and anticipation build until the truth be known. Given the success of the iPhone 4 though, and the rumured features of the iPhone 5, it’s no wonder as the prospective launch date firms up so will the hype!

As of writing the iPhone 5 release date is yet to be firmly established. There are a number of schools of thought for this much anticipated event and as one set of prospective iphone 5 release dates comes and goes another “inside information” set of dates emerges.  Kind of like predicting the end of the world – but in a nice way!

So… what’s the latest?  Well it seems some pundits (bearing in mind those at Apple actually in the know are say zilch), are now backing an official Iphone 5 launch in October 2011 – did I need to put the year in? According to PCWORLD, presales could begin as early as, well, now. Actual sales of the phone to the public could begin in about a month’s time extending to mid / late October.

In news just in, Deutsche Telekom (DT) has moved today to allow German volk to reserve (which in effect is pre-selling) an iPhone 5.  There is no word from DT as to the phone specifications or what the pricing structure will be, but it does say one thing – movement!

Iphone 5 Release Date / Iphone 5 Case suggests 4″ screen size

September 6, 2011  |  No Comments  |  Share

With the iPhone 5 release date surely moments away the latest specs information out is from MacRumours who actually ordered a pair of third party Iphone 5 cases from manufacturers who had them for public sale. Their measurement of the case suggests the phone size to be 4.7″ (11.75cm) x 2.6″ (6.5cm), although depth was difficult to measure the new phone did appear to have a much thinner profile to the Iphone 4. The screen size of the four is 3.5″ (8.75cm) on the diagonal and estimations of the mobile phone based on the case made the screen approximately 4″ (10cm) on the diagonal, although these dimensions do contradict early reports of a screen size only marginally larger that what it is now. At this stage these are not definitive answers and with the Iphone 5 release date expected to be October, more data on the specs will be surfacing over the next days.
